Switzerland vs Poland Preview

Saturday’s 14:00 kick off should be a very close match, at least according to the bookies. Switzerland have one win and two draws so far from the tournament while Poland have two wins and a draw. Both teams average 0.67 of a goal per game but Poland are yet to concede, managing that creditable 0-0 draw against Germany. It looks as though goals might be hard to come by but in this knockout stage the teams know a draw is not enough.

Form All Games Last 5  Average Goals Scored  Average Goals Conceded
Sweden  DDWWL 0.67 0.33
Poland  WDWDL 0.67 0

Picks?

We’d be happy to select players from any position from either team but not too may – there could be some points for goal scorers or defenders but it’s not nailed on.

Wales vs Northern Ireland Preview

This 17:00 kick off looks like an easier one to predict – Wales have been mostly excellent and a match against the Northern Irish shouldn’t bother them too much. If they can make the most of Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale and avoid getting drawn into a Premier League bunfight then this looks like a banker.

Form All Games Last 5  Average Goals Scored  Average Goals Conceded
Wales WLWLL 2 1
N. Ireland LWLDW 0.67 0.67

Picks?

Bale and Ramsey are solid but expensive choices but feel free to make as many Welsh selections as you want. Avoid the Irish.

Croatia vs Portugal Preview

This has the potential to be a cracking game after Portugal’s 3-3 draw with Austria and Croatia’s solid goal scoring form. The Croatians are slight favourites at the bookies but we think that whatever the result, we should see some goals scored. If Ronaldo can continue to improve then he might give the Portuguese the edge but Croatia’s 2-1 win over Spain was very impressive and players like Ivan Rakitic could sway things.

Form All Games Last 5  Average Goals Scored  Average Goals Conceded
Croatia WDWWW 1.67 1
Portugal  DDDWL 1.33 1.33

Picks?

Go for midfielders and strikers from either side – Ronaldo is always a gamble because he’s so expensive but he does usually come up with the goods.
