New York City FC vs New England Revolution

New York City FC have started the season with one win, one draw and one loss so pretty average – they scored 7 in their first two games then drew a blank in the most recent one in a defeat to Orlando City. New England Revolution are yet to record a win with two defeats and a draw in the bag and they’ve failed to score in the last two games.

League Form Last 5  Average Goals Scored  Average Goals Conceded
New York City FC  LDW  1.00  1.50
New England Revolution  LDD  1.50  3.00

Picks?

We’re inclined to avoid New England defenders but midfielders are an option because they tend to dominate possession – Diego Fagundez could be a useful addition with one goal and two assists so far. Mix Disgerud is the player of choice from New York City with two assists and one goal in three games. David Villa will score goals if he gets the chance, and he may against a dodgy defence on Saturday.

D. C. United vs FC Dallas

D.C. United are second from bottom of the Eastern Conference after three games with two draws, one defeat and just two goals scored so far; it’s a poor start and they will have to improve against an FC Dallas side, fourth in the Western Conference and with two wins and a loss to their name. Dallas are also struggling for goals somewhat with just four scored – and none on the road yet.

League Form Last 5  Average Goals Scored  Average Goals Conceded
D.C. United  DDL  1.00  1.00
FC Dallas  WLW  0.00  5.00

Picks?

FC Dallas have played one away game so far and conceded 5 goals but they’re up against a United team with very few goals at home. We would be happy to include defenders/goalkeepers from either team as cheap options in expectation of a 0 – 0 draw. We also like the look of Dallas’ Mauro Diax with one goal and two assists so far along with teammate Maximiliano Urruti up front who has scored twice so far.

Vancouver Whitecaps vs Houston Dynamo

Vancouver Whitecaps won their first match of the season last weekend but against the bottom-of-the-league Seattle Sounders; they face a mid-table Houston Dynamo with one win, one draw and a loss so far but they have scored 11 goals in three games, more than anyone else in either conference – they’ve also conceded seven.

League Form Last 5  Average Goals Scored  Average Goals Conceded
Vancouver Whiteheads  WLL  2.00  3.00
Houston Dynamo  LWD  3.00  4.00

Picks?

Recent stats suggest that this could be a very high scoring match so we’re looking at strikers and attacking midfielders from both teams. Houston’s Will Bruin is the clear choice up front 3 goals, 2 assists and a willingness to shoot. In midfield should be Vancouver’s Pedro Morales with 3 goals and 1 assist but Houston have some likely lads in the shape of Alex, Boniek Garcia and Ricardo Clark.

Be ready to change your selections this week as players are called up to various international duties.
