Vancouver Whitecaps vs Houston Dynamo Preview

Vancouver Whitecaps won their first match of the season last weekend but against the bottom-of-the-league Seattle Sounders; they face a mid-table Houston Dynamo with one win, one draw and a loss so far but they have scored 11 goals in three games, more than anyone else in either conference – they’ve also conceded seven.

League Form Last 5  Average Goals Scored  Average Goals Conceded
Vancouver Whiteheads  WLL  2.00  3.00
Houston Dynamo  LWD  3.00  4.00

Picks?

Recent stats suggest that this could be a very high scoring match so we’re looking at strikers and attacking midfielders from both teams. Houston’s Will Bruin is the clear choice up front 3 goals, 2 assists and a willingness to shoot. In midfield should be Vancouver’s Pedro Morales with 3 goals and 1 assist but Houston have some likely lads in the shape of Alex, Boniek Garcia and Ricardo Clark.

Monarcas Morelia vs Chiapas FC Preview

With three defeats in a row, things have taken a turn for the worse for Morelia in recent weeks and they now find themselves in 14th place in the Liga MX. Scoring goals has not been a particular problem but the defence has conceded 11 goals in those last three games. Chiapas are in 12th place with one defeat in the last five but they need to get back to the sort of early season form which saw them win their first three games.

League Form Last 5  Average Goals Scored  Average Goals Conceded
Monarcas Morelia  LLLDD  1.46  1.62
Chiapas FC  DLWWD  1.29  1.79

Picks?

We think there will be fewer goals in this match than the MLS fixture hence the selection of Oscar Jimenez and Javier Mustafa from Chiapas and Enrique Perez from Morelia. In midfield we’ve gone for consistent scorers Rodrigo Millar from Morelia and Aviles Hurtado from Chiapas.
