Bayern Munich vs Atletico Madrid Preview

We kick off on Tuesday in Germany as the hosts try and recover from a 1-0 deficit following the first leg in Spain. Bayern are very strong at home, both domestically and in the Champions League, winning 11 on the trot in the latter competition. Atletico are also in awesome form and level on points at the top of the Spanish league with Barcelona. They’ve conceded only 16 goals all season and away from home that averages at just 0.50 per match. This should be an interesting match between that tight defence and a Bayern attack which averages three goals per game at home.

Form All Games Last 5  Average Goals Scored  Average Goals Conceded
Bayern (home) DWWWW  3.00 1.69
Atletico (away)  WWLLW  1.61  0.50

Picks?

Even if Bayern win this doesn’t feel like it will be a high-scoring match so it’s probably safe to go for defenders, especially home ones. The Germans will have plenty of possession so their midfielders should pick up plenty of points.

Real Madrid vs Manchester City Preview

These two teams played out a nil-nil draw in the first leg in Manchester but City will have their hands full trying to contain a Madrid side playing at home and welcoming the return of Cristiano Ronaldo, the competition’s all-time top scorer. City will need a sterling defensive performance while relying on some counter-attacking skill otherwise this is going to be a long and ultimately fruitless evening.

Form All Games Last 5  Average Goals Scored  Average Goals Conceded
Madrid (home) WWWWW 3.72 0.78
City (away)  LDWDW 1.28 1.06

Picks?

We’d have anyone from Real Madrid – Ronaldo if you can afford him – but avoid any City players because we fear they’re going to be on the wrong end of a hammering.
