Every day we bring you what we think are some sensible selection options based on today’s upcoming matches; we’re not going to promise that these are guaranteed winners because if we could do that we’d all be millionaires by now. These players are all solid picks based on recent stats and their next opponents so check them out.

Matches are a little hard to come by on Friday evening so we’re restricted to picking from two games and four teams about which our knowledge is not great – still we’ll give it a go and this is our entry for Mondogoal’s Friday Freeroll:

  • Nice vs Angers
  • Brentford vs Burnley

Our Pick (4-3-3)

Goalkeeper David Button Brentford £6.0m
Defender James Tarkowski Brentford £7.9m
Defender Romain Thomas Angers £8.7m
Defender Ben Mee Burnley £8.3m
Defender Paul Bayasse Nice £8.9m
Midfielder Alan Judge Brentford £13.1m
Midfielder Jean Seri Nice £9.2m
Midfielder Gilles Sunu Angers £7.2m
Forward Philipp Hofmann Brentford £5.9m
Forward Valerie Germain Nice £7.3m
Forward Andre Gray Burnley £8.1m
Total Price – £90,600,000

Fourth-placed Nice visit second-placed Angers in the French Ligue 1with both teams in reasonable form although a bit short of wins; in the Championship fourth-placed Burnley make the trip to mid-table Brentford with Burnley in the better recent form but Brentford are relatively strong at home.

Defence

It’s mainly a scatter gun approach on Friday as the visiting teams are the ones in form against home teams with decent records; we fancy Brentford to do well against Burnley so keeper James Button and defender James Tarkowski are our first picks. Romain Thomas (Angers), Ben Mee (Burnley) and Paul Bayasse (Nice) occupy the other three spots in our 4-3-3 formation.

Midfield

Our three man midfield contains three consistent high scorers – Alan Judge (Brentford), Jean Seri (Nice) and Gilles Sunu (Angers).

Forwards

Up front we’ve again picked from a selection of teams and we’ve gone for Brentford’s Philipp Hofmann, Nice’s Valerie Germain and the evergreen Andre Gray from Burnley.
