There are eight Champions League matches to pick from this evening and there are some fairly obvious bankers among a mixed bunch:

  • Seville vs Juventus
  • Galatasary vs Astana
  • PSV Eindhoven vs CSKA Moscow
  • Paris St. Germain vs Shakhtar Donetsk
  • Wolfsburg vs Manchester United
  • Benfica vs Atletico Madrid
  • Manchester City vs Borussia Monchengladbach
  • Real Madrid vs Malmo FF

Our Pick

Goalkeeper Keylor Navas Real Madrid £12.0m
Defender David Luis PSG £10.0m
Defender Semi Kayah Galatasaray £6.2m
Defender Maxwell PSG £11.1m
Midfielder Davy Propper PSV £8.2m
Midfielder Saul Miguez Atletico Madrid £5.6m
Midfielder Fernandinho Manchester City £6.4m
Midfielder Thiago Motta PSG £9.9m
Forward Raul Jiminez Benfica £6.3m
Forward Anthony Martial Manchester United £5.4m
Forward Ronaldo Real Madrid £18.0m
Total Price – £99,700,000

Obviously there are a couple of home bankers tonight in the shape of PSG and Real Madrid who host Shakhtar Donetsk and Malmo respectively. These games are essentially dead rubbers as both teams have already qualified for the next stage but they should both keep clean sheets, hence the inclusion of Navas, Luis and Maxwell. Up front we’ve splashed out on Ronaldo with Thiago Motta supporting from midfield.

That’s something of an expensive, star-studded line-up so there are some cheaper options elsewhere but these too should be points-scorers. Galatasaray’s game against Astana is another dead rubber which hopefully should result in a clean sheet for the home side and points for Semi Kavah.

Saul Miguez (Atletico Madrid), Fernandinho (Manchester City) and Davy Propper (PSV) are the cheaper midfield options and the latter two are still playing for something; the surprisingly cheap Anthony Martial should start in their vital tie against Monchengladbach tonight and the line-up is completed by Benfica’s Rail Jiminez – Benfica have already qualified but will want to top the group with a win against Atletico Madrid.
