Our Pick

Goalkeeper David de Gea Manchester United £10.4M
Defender Chris Smalling Manchester United £9.6M
Defender Diego Godin Atletico Madrid £9.4M
Defender Maxwell PSG £10.3M
Midfielder Saul Niguez Atletico Madrid £5.7M
Midfielder Fernandinho Manchester City £7.3M
Midfielder Enoch Kofi Adu Malmo £4,2M
Midfielder Gabi Atletico Madrid £7.4M
Midfielder Paul Pogba Juventus £10.4M
Forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic PSG £19.3M
Forward Anthony Martial Manchester United £5.3M
Total Price – £99,300,000

Defensively Manchester United have been very solid this season and we fancy the outstanding pairing of David de Gea and Chris Smalling to keep a clean sheet against PSV Eindhoven this evening. Atletico Madrid’s Godin has a fair chance of some points at home against notoriously poor travellers Galatasary while Maxwell from PSG is a consistent points scorer when he starts the match (he’s started all the European ties).

Juventus’ Paul Pogba scores goals and creates assists from midfield so the extra cost is worth his inclusion in a match the bookies expect them to win against Manchester City. Two bargain players from Atletico Madrid (Saul Niguez & Gabi) along with Man City’s Fernandinho and Malmo’s Enoch Kofi Adu make up the numbers in the centre of the pitch but all are capable points scorers.

Up front we’ve selected the irrepressible Zlatan Ibrahimovic – he’s expensive but he’s scored nine in six in the French league and should be a real threat against his hometown club Malmo. Malmo have conceded eight and scored one in the Champions League this season. United’s cheap but cheerful Anthony Martial makes up the numbers but should starts tonight despite missing Saturday’s match against Watford with an injury.
