Vancouver Whitecaps vs New York Red Bulls Preview
It’s not much fun begin a Whitecaps fan just now, the Vancouver outfit are second from bottom of the Western Conference and without a league win in six games. They should be glad of a home match as they’ve failed to score in six straight away matches. It’s a little brighter at home – at least they always score at least one goal even if they’ve won just once in five games. In the EC the Red Bulls are looking solid up in third place but they struggle on the road – they’ve managed five draws and two defeats in seven. Of statistical interest is the fact that they’re last four games away from home have finished 2-2.
Avoid defenders from this tie and go for attacking players from either side, particularly the visitors.
New England Revolution vs Colorado Rapids Preview
This is another Eastern vs Western Conference match as Colorado make the trip to Foxborough’s Gillette Stadium. It’s been a tough season for New England and they’re loitering near the bottom of their league having lost the last two home games without scoring. They need to get back in the scoring habit for this match against a Rapids side who are without a win in five in the league away from home but who generally get on the scoresheet.
This is a tough pick, it could be a low-scoring draw but we’ll probably avoid any players from this fixture.
Chicago Fire vs Philadelphia Union Preview
Chicago are rock bottom of the EC on Saturday they face the visit of Philadelphia Union who are up in fourth place. As usual with the MLS however, home form seems to be extremely strong and Chicago are unbeaten in eight at Toyota Park, although the last three games there have finished 2-2. Philadelphia though have won their last two away games scoring six goals in the process so there could be some goals in this match.
Go for attacking players from both sides in expectation of some goals.
FC Dallas vs Portland Timbers Preview
FC Dallas are currently top of the WC and five points clear of any other team from either league; on Saturday they face a Portland team in mid-table in the same league. Dallas are unbeaten at home this season and the last five games at the Toyota Stadium have resulted in five wins, one draw and 13 goals scored. They’re up against a Portland team yet to win away this season and with three losses from three on the road – they’ve scored just once in six games.
Go for FC Dallas players from all positions but stay away from the Timbers.
LA Galaxy vs Columbus Crew Preview
The Galaxy are 4th in the WC and they host Columbus Crew at the Stubhub Center who are struggling near the foot of the EC. This should a fairly straightforward win for LA but they’ve managed just three draws in their last three home games so there is some hope for the Crew who won their last away match (after losing the previous four).
We’re still confident of a home win but it could be a low scoring affair so consider defenders from LA Galaxy first.
