Costa Rica vs Paraguay Preview

Paraguay start as narrow favourites for this Saturday evening fixture and we’d go along with that; Costa Rica have shown some fight in recent home internationals but only against teams such as Jamaica and Venezuela. Those matches have also raised their average scoring record to a level which probably doesn’t reflect their quality. Paraguay have struggled for wins in recent internationals but have shown some quality with draws against Ecuador and Paraguay.

Costa Rica WWWWD 1.50 1.50
Paraguay  LDLWL 1.00 1.00

We predict a narrow win for the visitors or a low-scoring draw so defenders from Paraguay would be our only picks from this match.

Haiti vs Peru Preview

This is a game which Peru should win with something to spare and the bookies prices reflect that difference in quality. Haiti are largely out of their depth in this competition and can claim only one win in their last five internationals – a 1-0 against Trinidad and Tobago. They average less than one goal per game and will struggle against a Peru side who have scored seven in their last two games. Peru have hardly set the world alight on their recent travels but they’ll be too good for Haiti.

Haiti DLWLW 0.50 0.50
Peru  LLLDL 0.00 2.00

Choose Peruvian players from any position fro this match but avoid the Haitians.

Brazil vs Ecuador Preview

Only five places now separate these two teams in the FIFA rankings but Brazil still start as the overwhelming favourites to grab the victory in their opening Copa America game. Even though they generally concede, they average more than 2.5 goals per game at home which should be enough to see off Ecuador. The Ecuadorians can point to a two goal scoring average away from home so we could well see plenty of goals here.

Form All Games Last 5  Average Goals Scored  Average Goals Conceded
Brazil DWWWL 2.67 1.00
Ecuador  LLWWW 2.00 1.33

We’d probably avoid defenders from this match unless you feel that Brazil can grab an unlikely clean sheet. Pick midfielders and strikers from either side.
