Colorado Rapids vs Philadelphia Union Preview

There’s a huge match in store at 02:00 on Sunday morning as the leaders of the Western Conference host the top team in the Eastern Conference. It’s the home team who are dominating their league currently though with eight wins from thirteen games and six wins from six at home. They may not score a hatful of goals but they conceded just two on their patch. Philadelphia may be top of the EC but are eight points short of Colorado having played one game fewer. They’ve won just one of the last games away from home but do generally score so Colorado may se their defence tested.

Form All Games Last 5  Average Goals Scored  Average Goals Conceded
Colorado WWWWW 1.50 0.33
Philadelphia  DDLLW 1.00 1.50

This should be a seventh home win for Colorado but a goal for the visitors could make things interesting; go for players from any position for the home team and strikers (if you’re brave) from the visitors.

San Jose Earthquakes vs FC Dallas Preview

FC Dallas are the other outstanding team in the WC and on Sunday morning (UK time) they visit mid-table San Jose Earthquakes. San Jose are strong at home with five wins out of six games and a decent scoring record of just over one and a half goals per game. They concede only half a goal per game and this should be an interesting tie against a Dallas team who struggled for goals on the road until their last game – a 4-2 win at New England.

Form All Games Last 5  Average Goals Scored  Average Goals Conceded
San Jose WWWWD 1.67 1.00
FC Dallas  WLLLW 1.43 2.29

FC Dallas are poor on the road generally and that leads us to a home win or a draw; we should see some goals though so go for midfielders and strikers from both sides.

New York City FC vs Orlando City SC Preview

NYC FC were hammered 7-0 at home by their Red Bull rivals in their last outing and will want to put that behind them with a win over a an Orlando team who have won just three games all season and just one away from home. NYC’s goal stats have been completely skewed by that thrashing and they are now shoe-in for this game, having won just once on their own turf. It’s something of a mystery how they occupy second place in the league.

Form All Games Last 5  Average Goals Scored  Average Goals Conceded
New York LWDDD 1.00 2.00
Orlando  LDLLW 1.40 1.80

This feels like a draw to us as a NYC team poor at home look to solidify against an Orlando team who are mediocre on the road. Could be a goalless draw but it could also be a narrow in for either team – pick accordingly.
