Napoli vs Benfica Preview

Napoli produced an impressive performance in their opening Champions league match against Dynamo Kiev, coming from behind to win 2-1 in the end. They should be an even stronger proposition at home with the customary strong Italian defence and the bookies bear that out, making them odds-on favourites for the win. Don’t expect too many goals but do expect a clean sheet.

Go for Napoli players, especially in defence.

Ludogorets vs Paris St-German Preview

It was 1-1 draws all round in Group A two weeks ago and Ludogorets will have been happy with their trip to Switzerland; PSG will want to forget a game against Arsenal in Paris which they should have won comfortably but only managed a stalemate. The French side are overwhelming favourites to secure a win in Bulgaria and should score some goals in the process.

Midfielders and strikers from PSG, no-one from Ludogorets.

Borussia Monchengladbach vs Barcelona Preview

The Germans were hammered 4-0 in Manchester two weeks ago and now have to face a Barcelona team who tonked Celtic 7-0 at the Camp Nou in their first European outing this year. The Spaniards are massive favourites to brush aside a Monchengladbach team who have looked strong in the Bundesliga but limp in Europe.

Go for as many Barca players as you can afford and avoid any from the home team.

Celtic vs Manchester City Preview

At this stage it looks like Celtic won’t make it out of the groups stages; they were hammered in Barcelona and must now face a rampant City side who have won every game in all competitions they’ve played so far this season. A draw would be a great result for the Scots but they’ll need all the home support they can muster against Pep’s superb Manchester outfit and we think this is a nailed-on away win.

Pick players from Manchester City, avoid those from Celtic.

Arsenal vs Basel Preview

Arsenal were somewhat fortunate to get away with a 1-1 draw in Paris in the first round but they will now be looking for a solid win at home against the Swiss champions. They should get it too, especially after a superb 3-0 win against Chelsea at the weekend so we’re looking for a home win and a clean sheet here.

Go for Arsenal players from all positions and avoid those from Basel.

FC Rostov vs PSV Eindhoven Preview

Rostov and Eindhoven are both without a point after the first round of matches; Rostov shipped five goals at Bayern Munich and will be looking for a confidence-building performance against an Eindhoven team who suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Atletico Madrid.

This is rather a tough match to call but there should be goals so use attackers and midfielders from both sides.

Atletico Madrid vs Bayern Munich Preview

This looks like one of the standout matches of this round and it sees German champions Bayern Munich make the trip to Atletico Madrid, third place finishers in La Liga. Both teams won their opening game, keeping a clean sheet in the process and there’s no clear winner when it comes to the bookies prices.

A result is difficult to predict so if you need players from this fixture go for influential/attacking midfielders.

Besiktas vs Dynamo Kiev Preview

Besiktas have a chance to progress beyond the group stages of the Champions League this season and they began the campaign with a draw against Benfica. The Turkish side now face Dynamo Kiev who are without a point at this stage and expected to lose this match by the bookies.

Besiktas players are the way to go here but avoid Ukrainians.
