Every day we bring you what we think are some sensible selection options based on today’s upcoming matches; we’re not going to promise that these are guaranteed winners because if we could do that we’d all be millionaires by now. These players are all solid picks based on recent stats and their next opponents so check them out.
There are just three matches to pick from this evening and it’s a mixed bunch for sure:
- Espanyol vs Levante
- Everton vs Crystal Palace
- Grimsby Town vs Shrewsbury Town
Our Pick
Goalkeeper | James McKeown | Grimsby Town | £7.4m |
Defender | Anaitz Arbilla | Espanyol | £6.7m |
Defender | Ruben Duarte | Espanyol | £6.2m |
Defender | Shaun Pearson | Grimsby Town | £7.3m |
Midfielder | Ross Barkley | Everton | £13.8m |
Midfielder | Leon Osman | Everton | £8.8m |
Midfielder | Yannick Bolasie | Crystal Palace | £8.4m |
Midfielder | Yohan Cabaye | Crystal Palace | £7.1 |
Forward | James Collins | Shrewsbury Town | £7.9m |
Forward | Romelo Lukaku | Everton | £11.5m |
Forward | Felipe Caicedo | Espanyol | £3.5m |
Fewer matches doesn’t aways mean an easier pick because you inevitably end up with your strikers playing against your own defenders. That’s the case here with Shrewsbury’s relatively free-scoring James Collins in our line up against two Grimsby Town defenders. We fancy non-league Grimsby against their League One opponents in the FA Cup tonight but the inclusion of Collins means we’re hedging our bets somewhat.
Espanyol are at home against bottom-of-the-league Levante hence the addition of Arbilla & Duarte in defence and the cheap but regular-scoring Felipe Caicedo up front.
Everton and Crystal Palace face other other in a Premier League matchup at Goodison Park tonight and recent form suggests there should be goals in this game; Lukaku is an obvious choice up front and our midfield is made up of Barkley and Osman from Everton along with Bolasie and Cabaye from the Eagles. There should be plenty of points on offer there.
