Our Pick

Goalkeeper David de Gea Manchester United £8.8m
Defender Chris Smalling Manchester United £8.9m
Defender Chancel Mbemba Newcastle United £7.0m
Defender John Stones Everton £7.7m
Midfielder Ross Barkley Everton £12.6m
Midfielder Riyad Mahrez Leicester City £12.5m
Midfielder Yohan Cabaye Crystal Palace £7.6m
Midfielder Marc Albrighton Leicester City £6.2m
Forward Jonathan Walters Stoke City £7.8m
Forward Loic Remy Chelsea £7.6m
Forward Romelu Lukaku Everton £12.4m
Total Price – £99,100,000

We’re started with a solid defence and you don’t get much more watertight than Manchester United’s in this bizarre Premier League season. David de Gea and Chris Smalling provide the bones along with John Stones and Chancel Mbemba. Stones has a decent chance of some points against Leicester but Mbemba is more of a risk – he’s cheap but the slowly improving Geordies face a terrible Villa side at home.

We’re not convinced Leicester will get on the scoresheet but Riyad Mahrez and Marc Albrighton should still be worth of some points in midfield; Everton’s Ross Barkley and Palace’s consistent scorer Yohan Cabaye make up the other two spots.

Up front we’re taking a punt on Loic Remy as Chelsea have dispensed with the services of Jose Mourinho and should beat Sunderland relatively easily. Everton’s Lukaku and Stoke’s Jonathan Walters complete our line up.
